Often forgotten by many, and I shamefully include myself in that group (sorry Dad), today is Father’s Day! About four months ago, I became a father to a beautiful baby girl. And I can’t imagine what my life would be like without my daughter. You see, ever since we were young children we were always asked, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” A doctor, a fisherman, a rock climber, a trash man; the list goes on. And ever since then we’ve all struggled to figure out an answer to that question. But at last, I’ve figured it out. I know what I want to be. From the moment I laid my eyes on that perfect little baby, I knew that I wanted to be the best dad possible to my little girl. Much like how my dad was to me. So today, on my first Father’s Day, I’d like to give thanks to the man himself, my dad. Dad, It’s funny how you don’t seem to see all the things your parents do for you until you yourself become one. As I stop and reflect, I finally see how much you’ve done for me. So I’d like to take the time to say thank you. Thank you for always supporting me. For sticking with me through thick and thin. Thanks for showing me what the world has to offer and for everything you’ve taught me. Thank you for showing me what a loving relationship looks like. And for teaching me hard work. Thanks for teaching me to always try. Thank you for being there. But more importantly, thanks for teaching me what it means to be a great dad.
