Adventure: Completing Our Registry

Flashback Friday to an entry I wrote when we were setting up our registry at BuyBuy Baby. Hopefully you can relate (otherwise, The Mrs. and I are just weirdos).
So, maybe we're just weird, but my wife and I somehow end up at this store (BuyBuy Baby) on a weekly basis. We like to browse and test out/compare products. We research, and tackle each section and sub section of the store one visit at a time. I know what you're thinking, "these people are psycho." And you might be right, but here's our reasoning. When we got married, we did our registry at Bed Bath and Beyond and we spent over SIX hours in the store! By the time we got to the bath end of the store, the part we were excited about, the joy of being able to wield the scanner was long gone and all we wanted to do was leave.
So this time, when doing our baby registry, we decided to take a different approach. When we first walked up to the registry counter at BuyBuy Baby we made it clear that we did not want to do our registry all at once. After a moment of confusion the registry consultant agreed and we were on our merry way with the magical scanner in hand. Since then, we've slowly been building our registry and yesterday we finally "finished" 🙌🏽. I am so thankful we decided to do our registry like this. This method allowed us to keep a positive upbeat attitude during each session. It also allowed us time to research and make the most informed decisions possible. Not to mention the fact that we basically had spending free date nights for over a month.
With both of us being new parents, the baby store was a big mysterious place and we didn't know where to start. We're not ones to just make big decisions on a whim so it was important that we became informed. Breaking it down the way we did and being able to spend time in different sections made the experience that much better. We were able to go at it alone on the fun stuff and get the help of the consultant on the stuff that scared us. Through the whole process we really began to get to know the staff and elicit more honest opinions out of them, like what they used with their children.
For anyone looking to do a registry of any kind, whether its for a baby, a wedding, a house warming, or whatever else you do a registry for, consider using this method. I promise you'll be much more happy and satisfied with the process if you do.
Tips & Lessons Learned:
- Go slow- this is a lesson we learned the hard way.
-Do the fun stuff/stuff you're comfortable with on your own.
-Make an appointment with the registry consultant for the stuff that scares you/you don't know much about.
- As always, have fun with it.
